For the past six months, curly girls everywhere have been a part of the NaturallyCurly.com's Grow-Out Challenge.  The challenge is about to come full circle with a Natural Hair Celebration that not only marks the culmination of the Grow-Out Challenge, but also invites people with all hair types to come and embrace their natural hair's beauty.

The Natural Hair Celebration will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 1-5 PM at the Avenue Five Beauty School in Austin, TX.

The Grow-Out Challenge began in October 2009 and will end March 31, 2010.  During that time, Miss Jessie's awarded more than $3,600 worth of products to the participants who showed the most gumption and dedication on this journey of transition.  NaturallyCurly members blogged about their transitioning challenges, also submitting pictures and videos.  Winners received personalized hair "prescriptions" and Miss Jessie's products that fit their individual hair needs.

The founders of Miss Jessie's, Titi and Miko Branch, will be present at the event to speak, answer questions and perform full demos on five ladies.  The event also includes food and refreshments, product sales and talk time with Titi and Miko and the staff of NaturallyCurly.com.

Bobbi Brown Natural Finish Foundation

    
I'm pretty sure you're now all well aware of how much I love almost all that is Bobbi Brown.  Rarely do I find a complete dud among her collection.  So, though I've not yet tried her new Natural Finish Foundation, I'm already looking forward to it!  Bobbi Brown foundations/concealers and I have a mutual love affair: they love making my skin look its best and my skin loves being matched well and beautified.

According to Bobbi, the new Natural Finish Foundation is designed to give skin a soft matte finish that looks "healthy and natural - never heavy."  It is also oil-free and long-wearing, absorbing excess oil on the surface of the skin while also supplying moisture so that skin is perfectly balanced.  We are assured eight hours of wear, even in the most humid of climates.  The Natural Finish Foundation comes in 20 shades, so we should all be able to find one that enhances the beauty of our skin, instead of masking it.

Zoe Saldana is one of Hollywood's of the moment actresses and while she looks like she's sporting something dangerously close to a "mom jean", I think she looks fresh, natural and pretty on the cover of Essence.  That is her "look", after all.
