Talk to me: Would you take a pill to "cure" your curly hair?

 
This is my hair when it's wet.  I am proud of my curls and kinks.  I sport them every day in lovely, long Sisterlocks.  I have worked hard to get to a point where I love my natural hair, in all its wildly textured glory.

Now, on NaturallyCurly.com, they've announced that researchers in Australia have identified a gene that is mainly teh cause of some of us being curlies: trichohyalin.  Researchers say this discovery could lead to a breakthrough pill which might make curly hair straighter and straight hair curlier.  This potentially could lead to new treatments that render flat irons a thing of the past.

Most curlies questioned on NaturallyCurly.com have said "no thanks" to the pill that could "cure curls", but what say you?  Would you take a pill to "cure" your curly hair?  Talk to me!

Carol's Daughter Candy Paint is going bye-bye! Get 'em while the gettin's good!

I am not a huge fan of Carol's Daughter Candy Paint.  (My review is here.)  However, if you are a lover of it, I'm sad to say that Carol's Daughter is phasing this out of the product line.  So, if you love Candy Paint or if you've always been curious about it, stock up now!  The price has been slashes from $13.50 per tube, to $6!  Beauty for a bargain, y'all!

Why do I not have this???

This is Make-Up Designory's Ladybug lipstick.  It is described as a "deep satin red with blue undertones".  It sounds suspiciously like Russian Red, which I have extreme love for and it is called LADYBUG!  Why do I not have this???

If any of you have tried it, I want to know all about it.  Do we love it or hate it?  I mean, come on!  It's called "Ladybug", y'all!

Get the look! Christina Hendricks at the Golden Globes

Celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali used shu uemura products to achieve Christina Hendricks' incredibly bright and sexy look for the Golden Globes.

Inspiration:

“Effortless and chic:  sheer satin eyes, pink milk-maid cheeks and a siren mouth. Christina’s dress has a sexy, yet soft look.  We mirrored this with her make up.  I love the contrast of the angelic, innocent face with the sexy edge of a strong mouth.”

 

How To:

 

PREPARE:  I used shu uemura’s new Depsea Hydrability Moisture Cream.  This cream seriously hydrates, yet disappears into the skin leaving the skin feeling fresh and smooth.

 

UNDEREYE:  Lancôme’s Effacernes in Porcelain.

 

FOUNDATION:  Applied minimal foundation, because Christina has nearly flawless skin.  I used shu uemura’s Nobara Cream Cover Stick foundation.

 

BLUSH:  I used shu uemura’s brand new Satin Radiant Stick Blush on the apples of the cheeks. 

 

HIGHLIGHTER/EYESHADOW:  I used Satin Radiant Stick in Highlight all over the eye (from lash line to brow) then swept it down to highlight the very peak of the cheekbones.

 

EYE LINER:  To define and elongate the lashline, I used shu uemura’s Drawing Pencil in Black.  Also, to open up the eye, I lined the inside rim of the eye with shu uemura’s Eye Light White.

 

LASHES:  For luxurious lashes we added shu uemura’s Flare eyelashes in Black and finished with a coat of Ultimate Expression Mascara.

 

LIPS: I used shu uemura’s Rouge Unlimited #134
 

Wet 'n Wild Silk Finish Blush: Affordable Alternative to MAC Sheertone Blush

If you're a lover of MAC's Sheertone Blush, but you don't have the $18.50 to spare, go to your local drugstore or corner beauty supply and pick up Wet 'n Wild Silk Finish Blush, for only $3.49!  It applies smoothly and silkily (hence it's name, I guess) and is super long-lasting.  While the color selection is way smaller than MAC's, the colors that are offered are great ones and I've found that Heather Silk is an awesome shade, kind of similar to MAC's Coygirl.  Give it a try!

Help "Mad Men"'s Christina Hendricks dare to make a statement in red

Salvation Army Canada

Canadians can text "HAITI" to 45678 from any Rogers Wireless or Bell Mobility phone to donate $5 to The Salvation Army's efforts in Haiti.  Donors will receive a message asking them to confirm their donation with a YES reply. 

Whole Foods

When you make a purchase, the cashier will ask if you would like to make a donation for Haitian relief.  $1, $5, or $10 amounts may be donated.

Publix

Floridians may visit any Publix grocery store and when you make your pruchase, you can donatee any sum of money to Haitian relief.
