Honestly, I'm not really sure of the point of the bareMinerals Hydrating Mineral Veil. Bare Escentuals says that this version of the popular product Mineral Veil is designed for people with dry skin, to add moisture and luminescence. But it's also supposed to absorb oil and be good for all skin types. And it's supposed to give a cooling effect to the skin - I'm assuming like Prescriptives Magic Liquid Powder.

If you've been watching the news programs or if you keep your ear to the street regrading the latest beauty news, you've probably already heard that, just this week, the International Agency for Research on Cancer added tanning beds and UV radiation to its highest cancer risk category, calling them "carcinogenic to humans." It has been found that the risk of skin melanoma increases by 75% when one uses tanning devices before the age of 30. The point is: tanning beds can cause skin cancer.
So, here's my question: Do you tan, using either a tanning bed or by laying out in the sun?

I love What Not to Wear. But my least favorite part of it has always been Nick Arrojo. (Thank God that they've switched hair stylists to Ted Gibson. Can I get an "Amen?") I have never been impressed with what I consider his extremely limited creativity as far as hairstyle. I am willing to bet that, if you watch all the episodes, he has given at least 80% of the women a bob. A bob. Really?
I'm particularly frustrated with his reaction to women with curly hair, of all types - from slightly wavy to tight, kinky coils. He usually advises the woman to straighten her hair, through blow drying, flat ironing or wet sets. Why doesn't he encourage women to work with their natural curls? Not to mention how he deals with African American women with natural hair - he basically doesn't.

Oooh, y'all, this makes me so happy! For those of you who've been interested in trying Bare Escentuals make-up, but have been worried by the mica-induced luminescence (read: "shine") in the formula, do I have news for you! Bare Escentuals has come out with its brand new bareMinerals SPF 15 Matte Foundation! Woo-freaking-hoo! As an oily-skinned gal, I always had to make sure to liberally powder over my BE foundation with Mineral Veil, to cut back on shine. But with the new Matte formulation, I won't be tearing through my Mineral Veil as quickly (though a girl does love her some Tinted Mineral Veil)!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, readers! I was on vacation! But I'm back now and there is much of beauty to discuss, so look for new posts!
Okay, I guess this isn't too much of a flashback, because, as far as I know, Shemar Moore is still on TV. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) But this is a flashback for me because my infatuation with Mr. Moore started many moons ago, when he first hit the screen as Young and Restless' Malcolm. Mrowr!

Do you, like me, have dry skin, but you're trying to save money, rather than go out and buy expensive scrubs? Here's a tip: instead of buying high-priced (or even moderately-priced drugstore brand) scrubs, go down to your kitchen and grab a spoonful of sugar! Sugar makes for a wonderful exfoliator. Mix a bit in your palm with a dollop of your regular cleanser. Rub it into your wet skin, using gentle circles. You will cleanse and exfoliate at the same time.
Sugar also works on your body when used with another kitchen beauty product: olive oil!
