Lippman Collection "Did I Shave My Legs For This"?

 Lippman Collection Did I Shave My Legs For This is marketed as an "ayurvedic" shave cream.  It supposedly offers "decadently smooth legs."  I decided to give this a try, as I am hairy enough to star in Wolverine.  (Thanks for the hirsute genes, Mom and Dad!)  According to the PR, this cream was specially formulated for use on any body part and with any skin type and has "soothing, toning and moisturizing properties."  The Ayurvedic Complex is supposed to work as a skin smoothing barrier that lubricates with clogging the razor.

Hotter than Hell: Hugh Jackman

 

In honor of the opening weekend of Wolverine: Origins, I would like to declare the star, one Mr. Hugh Jackman, this week's Hotter than Hell pick!

He is Everyman.  A good husband and dad.  An actor and certified movie star with enough power to be at the center of his own spin-offs.  A Broadway star who can dance and sing his way into your heart.  The host of the Oscars.  He looks good in a bathing suit.  He rocks sideburns and metal claws like nobody's business.

"I Am Not My Hair"

At work, I keep my iPod with me and I wear it during most of the day.  It keeps down distractions and I love having a soundtrack to my day.  This morning, I listened to India.Arie's "I Am Not My Hair" and it struck me how poignant the lyrics are.  They're words every woman, especially African American women, could stand to hear regularly.  Enjoy. Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara

 It seems that Rimmel Sexy Curves Mascara is following suit.  This is another mascara that is sporting the rubber bristles instead of the traditional  mascara brush.  I love the packaging - it's quite a glam looking mascara.  But I was underwhelmed by the performance.  While it did noticeably curl my lashes, it did nothing in the way of volumizing - my lashes looked positively spindly even after I applied three coats.  My lashes also became unbelievably clumpy and didn't look a bit longer.  And the worst part?  It totally irritated my eyes.  My right eye wound up red, itchy and irritated.  I had to wash all the mascara off halfway through the day.  Thumbs down!

MAX Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper

 

1. I have no idea why this is called MAX Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper.  Why is this a "lash plumper" and not a mascara?  Doesn't "lash plumper" really just mean "volumizing mascara?"  I mean, it's a catchy name, but really?

2. Why is this under the 2000 Calorie name?  MAX Factor's original 2000 Calorie mascara is one of my favorites and I don't like having the waters muddied with this new one.

3. Um, this isn't even technically a new mascara.  For serious.  This is Cover Girl Lash Blast in a black tube.  That's all.  MAX Factor and Cover Girl are owned by the same company and they just repackaged that mascara in a black tube and added a couple bucks to the price.  Don't be fooled.

4. Having said all that, Cover Girl Lash Blast is a good mascara and so is this.  If you're brand loyal and somehow prefer MAX Factor to Cover Girl, you're getting the best of both worlds here, I guess.  The Cover Girl product in a MAX Factor tube.  Have at it.
